Hello Everyone,
Chief Guest,
Respected Chairperson of this 8th annual function, the Chairperson of Right to Access Nepal, Mr. Yubaraj Devekota, Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Kumar KC, the Senior Social Development Officer, District Coordination Committee, Kathmandu, Special Guest Mr.........., President, Rotary Club of Balaju, Special Guest Ms. ...., Program Coordinator, Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, Bagbazar Kathmandu. Similarly, our international guests who have gracefully accepted our invitation, Mr. Devid Mundal, Norway, Mr. and Ms. Norman and Jenny Davidson, and Ms. Terry Steen.
My Colleague of Right to Access Nepal and the all who are here for the program. A very warm good day, Hello and Namaste!
There is a huge role of NGOs in a developing country such as our county, the Nepal. We have been suffering from a long of political transitions from Rana Regime to Pre-Democracy, Panchayet Regime to the restoration of democracy in 1989, the past 10 years of constitution building process and the 10 years of the civil war before that. We have been gone through a very critical situation to the present movement and luckily we have finished long going transition after the finalization of constitution making process. As development actors, NGOs have become the main service providers in countries where the government is unable to fulfill its traditional role. Therefore, this sector has always contributed a lot in positive transformation of Nepal either it was in Panchayet Regime, or in devastating 10 years of Maoist Civil War, or in transition period after that, and or in the recent devastating earthquakes. The sector has contributed in the diversified and integrated aspects of the development during the every crisis period. Furthermore, the role of the social organization is also deemed to be necessary at the movement too.
During the any crisis period, women, children, and elder people are always in need of helps. Furthermore, Nepal is in the lap of Himalayan range and it is the region is fragile. We are always in risk of suffering from the natural calamities. Regarding all these, before nine years back I and some of my friends took an initiation to establish a social organization. It took us around 1 year for planning and initial fund management and finally in 16th of November, 2009, we registered the Right to Access Nepal (RAN) in District Administrative Office, Kathmandu. Social organization is nonprofit in nature and run in charity and funding. Though, funding is always critical challenges, we faced the problem of experience and expertise. Besides all challenges, now we have successfully completed 8 years. During this period we got opportunity to work with numbers of social and governmental agencies of our nation. We earned friends and well-wishers. We got opportunity to reach and do service to the most deprived communities and people. We capacitated the thousands of thousands of people far away from the reach of the state, have established access to various bodies of the state, women and the poorer sections could earn income and stand on their own feet. During this period, we made numbers of independent women, many children got educational opportunities, we worked for the transparency of local governmental bodies, and we started publication of our financial affairs publicly.
In the Chilime of Raswa district people was suffering from the huge shortage of water and the major sanitation problem, we build the water supply system and made them aware of the use of toilet and hand washing. Similarly, we were able to support the micro irrigation and water supply system to the rural parts of Dailekh District, one of the rural district of Nepal. The irrigation system has changed the farming pattern of the farmer contributing in poverty alleviation and food security of the area which has increased the income of the people and daily living conditions. We have managed to manage irrigation facilities in various VDCs of Banke District also. Phattepur VDC which is considered to be the most remote and connected to border with India, farmers are using treadle pump and solar pump for the irrigation. This has turned hundreds of thousand rupees income generating to the local people. These activities we did to the rural people conducting these operations, more than a hundred people have been employed. Today, there are around 70 people still working in our organization.
We operate in project based program mostly which has its own cycle. Recently, our four social mobilization projects have completed. In this happy ceremony, we have also bad news that our 52 staffs from those are out gone from our organization from yesterday. The 13 staffs of Pokhara, 11 staffs of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality, 10 staffs of Godawari municipality, and 9 staffs of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and 11 staffs of Krtipur municipality, who have been working as social mobilization and community development activities through awareness, and participation. I personally and institutionally thank you all for your contribution toward positive transformation of our society through our organization. We will give priorities to those who are outgoing now from our organization in our future projects. Therefore this is not the time of being ashamed for the ending the projects. It is ongoing process in a social organization.
We have been preparing plans for new activities and programs. With the support of our well-wisher and the donor, we are planning to support targeted women for income generation, entrepreneurship development, skill development, etc. We are planning to create 50 more employments inside the organization with in upcoming two years through various projects. We have a plan to support 20 children in education this year. We are planning to establish handicrafts production center and providing production and marketing trainings to 50 women and youths this year. We are intending to create scholarship fund for deprived children. We are planning for providing modern farming training for our 25 farmer groups in mid-western region of the nation. For these all, I am expecting a warm supports from you all.
And finally, I would like to thank you very much for the participation in this eighth annual day function for all our chief guest Deepak sir, Devid, Terri, Norman, Jenny, Bhagawati Madam, Narayan Sir, Dr. Panta Sir, Umanath Sir and all other who are presented here now, welcome all of you guys from bottom of my heart, enjoy the movement.

In Samudradevi VDC; a high risk area of women trafficking, of Nuwakot District of Nepal, a one day awareness program is conducted for 25 poor and indigenous women. Sunita Tamang, a participant said," we have not participated in such program to the date, now I join the women group to fight against the women trafficking and violence for progressive transformation of the society.
For the achievement from the program is possible due to the financial support of David Mundal. Moreover, he has also helped for school materials for 25 poor and indigenous kids from the same place. This has motivated the kids for the regular school attendance.
