Our team has gained a huge success on poverty reduction effort through social mobilization. Our team has assigned the social mobilization project under Local Governance and Community Development (LGCDP) from the last five years.
The program aimed for the socio-economic transformation of poor communities of urban and rural area through capacity development, participation in decision making, empowerment, etc. The efforts have made a lot of changes such as: access of the disadvantaged group to local resources, planning process, and governmental bodies has increased; quality of government bodies' service delivery has improved; integrated development planning in local level has been fostered; a prompt surveillance of community based development projects has been practiced; awareness of local people about their rights and responsibilities has been increased, etc.
Moreover, community development through group formation approach has intervened so far in root level of the backward communities. Therefore, the targeted group is now changing the thought about the superstition, poverty, illiteracy, discrimination, exploitation, etc. which is the main blockade for the progress of Nepalese society. Final step of the LGCDP program is to transform groups formed through the program into the cooperatives for sustainability of the formed structures. Citizen Awareness Center (CAC), the pro-poor community based forum, hits the root level for the solution of socio-economic problem using REFLECT tools.
In Thadiba VDC, Lalitpur, the CAC has initiated the operation of agriculture cooperative: Sachet Kirshi cooperative, which is now operating by the poor women group of the program. This is the first cooperative operated by CAC in Mid-Development Region of Nepal. First general assembly meeting of the cooperative was held in 1st May, 2016. The main endeavor of the LGCDP is to reduce poverty through skill, awareness and group. The aim has achieved today. A great honor was given to five different personalities along with token of love in the program. The respect, love and believes given by the community people to our team have added joy, audacity, courage, effrontery and confidence. The success is here because of our dedicated labor and your all supports.
